Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) | Computer Graphics

CRT is a device which convert electrical signal into visual signal.

The primary output device in graphics is Video Monitor. The most of the Video Monitors work on the Standard CRT design.

CRT

How CRT works:

Electron Gun: It consists of heating filament. It generates negatively charged electron and accelerated towards the phosphorous coated screen.

Control Grid: It is going to control the flow of electrons so that electrons do not move freely inside the vacuum tube. Grid focuses and pass electron beam at high speed.

Focusing System: It is used to create a clear picture by focusing electron into narrow beam.

Deflection System: It controls the direction of electron beam by using electric or magnetic field.
  • Vertical Deflection Plate: It deflects electron beam in Up and Down direction on the screen.
  • Horizontal Deflection Plate: It deflects electron beam in Right and Left direction.

Phosphor Coated Screen: The inside front surface of the every CRT is coated with phosphor. Phosphor glows when highly energy electron beam hits the screen.
